Child psychologist providing therapy for a young child at Balanced Kids Psychology on the Central Coast

Meet Emilie

Every child deserves to feel understood, accepted and supported. As a registered psychologist, I am passionate about helping children, adolescents and their families better understand their strengths, navigate challenges and build the confidence to thrive. I know that reaching out for support can feel overwhelming. My aim is to create a welcoming, compassionate space where children feel safe to be themselves and where parents feel listened to, supported and empowered throughout the process.

My approach

My work is grounded in a neuroaffirming, strengths-based approach that recognises neurodiversity as a natural part of human variation. I believe every child experiences the world in their own unique way, and my role is to understand that individual profile rather than expecting children to fit a particular mould.

Whether I am completing an assessment or providing therapy, I take the time to understand each child's strengths, interests, relationships and environment. I work collaboratively with children, parents, carers and schools to develop practical strategies that support meaningful participation, emotional wellbeing and confidence across home, school and community.

Over the course of my career I have supported children and adolescents experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioural and developmental differences, including anxiety, ADHD, autism, emotional regulation difficulties, learning challenges and school-related concerns.

My experience across educational and clinical settings has reinforced the importance of seeing the whole child—not simply a diagnosis or presenting concern. Every assessment and therapy plan is individualised to ensure recommendations are practical, achievable and meaningful for each family.

What families can expect

Families often tell me they appreciate having a psychologist who takes the time to listen carefully and explain things clearly.

I understand that every family's journey is different, so I strive to make the assessment and therapy process as supportive and transparent as possible. My goal is for families to leave appointments with greater clarity, practical strategies and a deeper understanding of their child's unique strengths and needs.
